Sepsis Management and Early Goal-Directed Therapy
Sepsis is a life-threatening condition characterized by a dysregulated host response to infection, leading to organ dysfunction. Management of sepsis in the emergency department (ED) involves the rapid identification of sepsis criteria, initiation of early goal-directed therapy, and timely administration of antibiotics. Early recognition of sepsis is crucial, as delayed intervention is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Protocols such as the Surviving Sepsis Campaign guidelines provide evidence-based recommendations for the management of sepsis, including fluid resuscitation, vasopressor therapy, and close hemodynamic monitoring to optimize patient outcomes.
