Connective Tissue

Connective tissues provide structural support, protection, and insulation to various organs in the body. They are characterized by an extracellular matrix composed of fibers, ground substance, and cells such as fibroblasts, adipocytes, and macrophages. Types of connective tissues include loose connective tissue, dense connective tissue, adipose tissue, cartilage, bone, and blood. Each type of connective tissue has specific functions, ranging from providing cushioning and support to facilitating movement and immune responses. Medical students must grasp the diverse roles of connective tissues to comprehend the structural integrity and functional dynamics of the human body.
